RECORDING SESSION PREPARTION

Before Your Session:

  • Rehearse parts (performance matters most) 
  • Bring lyrics / charts 
  • Bring reference tracks 
  • Fresh strings / tuned and setup instruments
  • Fresh drum heads (song dependent)
  • Personal headphones
  • Water/Snacks 

MIXING SUBMISSIONS

File Naming (use clear, simple names).

  • Kick.wav 
  • SnareTop.wav 
  • BassDI.wav 
  • LeadVox_Main.wav 
  • Guitar_L.wav 

File Format

  • WAV or AIFF 
  • 24-bit (preferred) 
  • 44.1kHz or higher (typically sample rate of recording session)
  • No clipping on any track 

Export Requirements

  • All files exported from the same start point (bar 1) 
  • No time shifting or trimming 
  • Disable limiters/clipping on master bus 
  • Remove unnecessary processing unless it’s part of the sound 

Include With Your Files

  • Your rough mix (VERY important) 
  • 2–3 reference tracks if available
  • BPM + key 
  • Any notes on vibe / direction 

Common Issues to Avoid

  • Clipped audio 
  • Over-compressed stems 
  • Missing files 
  • Inconsistent file start times 

MASTERING SUBMISSIONS

File Format

  • WAV or AIFF 
  • 24-bit preferred 
  • Same sample rate as mix 

Export Requirements

  • Leave -3 to -6 dB headroom
  • No limiter on master (unless intentional) 
  • No clipping 

Include

  • Reference tracks 
  • Notes on desired loudness or tone
  • Track order
